PostgreSQL

PostgreSQL is a powerful open source object relational database system with over 15 years of active development, available with an open source license. One of the main advantages of PostgreSQL is that it is highly customizable. PostgreSQL executes stored procedures in more than a dozen programming languages, including Java, Node.js and Python or its PL / pgSQL, which is similar to Oracle’s PL / SQL. It can be run on all major operating systems, including Linux, UNIX and Windows. PostgreSQL has been designed and created to have much lower maintenance and optimization requirements, while maintaining high standards of reliability, stability and performance. PostgreSQL is extremely responsive in environments with high volumes of traffic and data, thanks to a proven architecture that has earned it a solid reputation for reliability, data integrity and correctness. We have gained great familiarity with this tool and use PostgreSQL (and its extension for geographic data PostgreGIS) as a valid alternative to proprietary relational database management solutions in a wide range of application domains, especially when it comes to processing information of geometric or geographical nature.
